Car washing......new form of exercise

I woke up this morning with the idea of going for a walk with my new foot weights. I was greeted with grey skies and drizzle. I was "sorely" disappointed. So decided to help hubby wash my car as a form of exercise instead. Yes, my husband washes my car for me. He thinks it's good exercise and we can save about $6 for each wash. Besides, he feels the fellas at the car wash do a lousy job. The fact that my car is almost pristine despite being more than 1 year old proves that he is doing a darn good job. My colleague claims that my car still has the new car smell. I have blocked nose half the time and cannot tell the difference.

Anyway, I went to the car park feeling all gungho about washing my car. It was really good exercise! My weak arms actually hurt after some scrubbing....imagine all that "bye bye" fats waving as I am scrubbing the car.....yew! Anyway, some squats were involved when I had to get to the lower half of the car. I cannot imagine doing this every fortnight. But it's real good exercise! And I'm extremely grateful that hubby is washing the car for me!

Saturday morning at East Coast Parkway

My company organized a charity run/walk at ECP this morning. Considering I came back from an overseas trip at about 10pm last night, it was a bit of a challenge to drag myself out of bed. The effort proved to be worthwhile. How often do you get to do something for charity while burning some calories?

I saw a group of people walking backwards as part of their exercise regime. I wonder what benefits this form of exercise has. I will try to find out.

We had an opportunity to witness a nice sunrise. I was able to catch some interesting sights along the way, such as urbanization framed by nature.

We also had a team of mobile masseuses from Singapore Association of the Visually Handicapped (SAVH) who were on standby to provide 20 min back or feet massages for $12.

Overall it was a morning more than well spent. Hope I can keep up with the exercise.

Grey skies in Dalian

The weather in Dalian over the week was nice and cool but the skies were pretty much grey most days.

Draw Something

The Draw Something craze is going on strong. There are stories about people who turn in professional looking pictures....courtesy of a tablet and stylus. Probably.

I just play all in the name of good fun and to show off to my son!

Attempting to get into shape

I've been trying to lose 5kgs for over a year and failed miserably. Recently a charity run/walk organized by my company triggered the urge to start exercising.

I have been doing brisk walks and occasional stairs climbing. So far I feel fitter and may actually be getting into the habit of exercising. The key, as Matthew says, is still the diet. I'm now living on rabbit food most of the time. It's a good thing that I like vegetables so it's not as torturous as it may seem.

Recent analytical discussions with Gabriel drew the conclusion that I'm in the Chen Liping category - auntie. All because I wear bermudas. What's wrong with that? Apparently everything from its shapelessness to its lack of cool factor and shortage of legs. Let's be frank. If I had legs like Kelly Hu, I'd walk everywhere in a pair of shorts. Unfortunately I'm nearer me which is thunder thighs category.

I'm gonna try to stick to the regime. Freeeee Kelleeeee! (pay GSC Tan to find out the story behind the war cry)

Ryan is a goose

Watching Puss In Boots where there was a gosling. Explained that a gosling is a baby goose. Then I said "Ryan Gosling is my favorite actor for today". Keane then said, "Daddy, you know what? Mummy said Ryan is a goose!"

Facebook has its purpose

I recently got in touch with an old friend from university days through Facebook. Then I started looking at his photos of his family. Then that led to checking out his friends who were our mutual friends in university. Then it reminded me that I've not checked out the photos of my own friends even though we've been "friends" on Facebook for so long. These are my friends from junior college.

As I was browsing the photos, I see my friends with their families. I see some photos from more than 20 years ago. I couldn't believe how some of us have changed.....yes I have put on weight from 20 years ago. I have definitely gained a few wrinkles from the wisdom, or so I'd like to think.

It's strange how you can be tagged in someone's photo on Facebook without being aware of it. That's quite creepy to an extent. I don't upload any photos on Facebook because I am paranoid. However I cannot control other people uploading photos which contain myself.

One common theme I found across all the photos was family bliss. I see my friends looking at their children with a look of contentment. The smiles on their faces when they are with their children is something that comes so naturally that you can feel the happiness projecting from the phone. Yes, thank goodness for smart phones which make access to the internet so easy.

I don't have many friends on Facebook. I cannot remember how many but it's definitely less than 30. I'm not popular. I don't accept friends regularly either. Why? Because there's nothing for me to show on Facebook. I have no photos, not much on my wall and I think after a while people have accepted that I'm not much of a Facebook user. But I think Facebook definitely has its purpose.
